Physical Brain Break Activities:

1. Dance Party – Turn on an upbeat song and let your students dance freely for a few minutes. This burst of energy can help reset their focus and improve their mood.

 

2. Stretch and Move – Have the class do simple stretches like reaching for the sky, touching their toes, or doing arm circles. You can even have them do a few jumping jacks to get their blood flowing.

 

3. Simon Says – You can play a quick game of Simon Says with active commands like “jog in place” or “hop on one foot.” This is the perfect game to help with their listening skills as well as their focus and coordination.

 

Creative Brain Break Activities:

4. Doodle Challenge – Hand out paper and ask your kids to doodle a specific theme, like “a magical forest” or “your dream pet”. Give them 2-3 minutes to draw, then let them share their art with each other. You can even tape them to the wall for the day!

 

5. Story Chain – Start a story with one sentence and let each student add a sentence. It’s a creative way to keep them focused and a great mental reset.

Calming Brain Break Activities:

7. Mindful Breathing – Guide your students through deep breathing exercises. Let them breathe in for four seconds, hold it for four seconds, and breathe out for four. This practice will help reduce stress and helps refocus.

 

8. Gratitude Pause – Have students close their eyes and think of one thing they are grateful for. Ask a few volunteers to share their thoughts. This will bring a bit of positivity into the classroom and good little pause from all the learning.
